Competitive Gymnastics

BTA is proud to host our fourth season of competitive gymnastics. At Burke’s, we believe gymnastics should be accessible to all ages and skill levels, which is why we will be offering additional team offerings in addition to our robust recreational gymnastics programs.

Please see our team descriptions below. If interested in joining our competitive gymnastics join us for an evaluation!

May 8th at 3:30pm-5:00pm

PREP-TEAM Level 1
This pre-team program is designed for children who show interest in a future on the competitive track. Invitees will be part of a small team of other gymnasts with like skills, working on skill progressions. This offering focuses on technique while teaching at a faster pace than recreational classes. Prerequisite skills: prior engagement in classes, ability to follow instructions, promising skill development

PREP TEAM Level 2
This pre-team program is designed for gymnasts who have intermediate-advanced skills for their age and show interest in a future on the competitive track. Invitees will be part of a small team of other gymnasts with like skills, working on skill progressions. This offering focuses on technique while teaching at a faster pace than recreational classes. Prerequisite skills: Ability to follow instructions, strong foundational skills such as handstands, bridges

WOMENS DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAM:
The Women’s Development Program (WDP) was created with the belief that all athletes, regardless of their potential, must have a solid foundation of basic skills in order to advance safely. The program allows the gymnast to advance at her own pace, competing in more than one level in a year, if she so chooses.

The WDP is divided into three major segments; developmental, compulsory, and optional.
Developmental: The first segment consists of Levels 1 through 3. These levels may be used as a non-competitive and achievement-oriented program for use within a gym’s pre-team program, or they may be used as an introductory/recreational competitive program. BTA is proud to offer competitive programming for level 3 gymnasts and will offer a robust program for all levels of pre-team.
Compulsory: The second segment consists of Levels 4 and 5. Both of these levels are progressive in nature, building upon the skills required at the previous level. Competitive opportunities are provided up to and including the USA Gymnastics State Championships.
Optional: The third segment is Levels 6-10. Levels 6, 7, 8, and 9 have difficulty restrictions, while Level 10 has no restrictions in the skill choice. Composition is evaluated at Levels 8, 9, and 10. Refer to the Women’s Development Program (WDP) Code of Points for a complete explanation of Level 6-10 rules.

XCEL GYMNASTICS TEAM

XCEL gymnastics; part of USA Gymnastics, offers a fresh take on competitive gymnastics. XCEL is a recreationally competitive program, where the pressure and commitment is much lighter than the Developmental Program and the gymnast can select skills from a list based on what they are best and strongest at.  XCEL will have a less time demanding schedule which allows the gymnast to participate in more extra curricular activities or be in the gym less. In addition, for all levels, the gymnast gets to participate in creating their own routines. All XCEL teams will be coached by a USAG and SafeSport certified coach.
